BJC 2020 Lessons

I have learned so much (and am continuing to learn a lot) throughout this process of creating my video, so here is a list of what I learned.

Overall

1. Understand your topic inside out -- make sure you can answer any and all questions
2. Be ORGANIZED -- you will have so many things to keep track of (videos, scripts, animations)
3. Have a good idea of how you want your animation to look like before you make it
4. Throw up, then clean up -- Write down all your ideas, then pick the best ones to include
5. Use simple, clear, and concise language to get your point across
6. Make sure to end with a continuation or what can be done in the future
7. Listen to others' advice, it is usually very useful
8. In the end, just GO FOR IT, and you never know what you can come up with

Video Editing - Premiere Pro

1. Again, be organized with what you want to include
2. Make sure you whole sequence is interesting and engaging (video and audio)
3. First edit the video, then add on the audio
4. For transitions, make sure that you stagger the video clips a little so they work effectively
5. Adjust the speed and size of the video for better effects
6. Add music -- that fits in with the video
7. Stabilize shaky videos by using the Warp Stabilizer
8. Find transitions under Video Transitions
9. Go to audio and use DeNoise and DeReverb to make speaking clearer
10. Don't cut specific sections too short, make sure there is natural spacing
11. Animate objects by using Keyframes under Motion in the Effect Controls tab
12. Use the Unlink functions to separate the Video and Audio of a clip

Recording

1. Wear something with a brighter color
2. Keep your hair down
3. Make sure you are not looking down at the camera, try to keep it straight ahead
4. Speak clearly
5. Don't over gesture
6. Project your voice (if you don't have a microphone)

Exporting Video

1. Make sure to export as H.264, then select Preset as the YouTube type you want (usually 1080p)
2. AVI is the default and takes too long to export and load. It also is the wrong size on YouTube
3. To be able to import you own thumbnails, make sure your YouTube account is verified
4. If your file is over 2MB (for thumbnails), use MS Paint and save it as JPEG
